Our Goal
-
This game was created for children who find speaking difficult, including children with selective mutism. Rather than pushing children to speak, it builds comfort and confidence through play so that when they speak it feels like their choice.
Our Game
Ready to Play?
Levels
Level 1: No Speaking
Level 2: Single word
Level 3: Repeat sentence
This game can be played outside the classroom with someone the child feels comfortable with at first. They can progress through all levels before practicing in the classroom, starting with one classmate at a time. Eventually, they can move on to small groups as their confidence grows.
About me
-
When I was five, I was diagnosed with selective mutism, a challenge that made it hard for me to speak in certain situations. With support from outside resources that provide therapy and my school, I gradually overcame it and gained confidence in my voice. Now, as a junior in high school, I am passionate about working with kids and helping them find their own strengths. My experiences have inspired me to give back by supporting children who face similar challenges and by providing resources to schools that may not have access to the help they need.
